Ceardlann Earraigh

From small beginnings, Ceardlann Earraigh has grown to become an established event in the annual calendar of Irish Traditional events.  Ceardlann Earraigh celebrates its 21st Anniversary in on the 24th of March 2018.

The first event was organised as a result of a grant received from Kildare County Council by Bord Chill Dara CCÉ.  Over the year these workshops have drawn pupils from all over Ireland and far flung places such as Wales, Scotland, Sweden, Germany, the US and Japan.  They travel to Kildare because they are consistently provided with the best of tuition.

This year will be no exception, our Tutors include:

  • Liam O’Connor and Ciarán Ó Maonaigh (Fiddle)
  • Caitlín Nic Gabhann (Concertina)
  • Conal Ó Gráda (Flute)
  • Daithí Gormley (Button Accordion)
  • James Harvey (Banjo)
  • Cormac Breatnach (Whistle/low whistle)
  • Colm Murphy (Bodhrán)
  • Caoimhín Ó Fearghail (Uilleann Pipes)

This year we will hold an Instrument Makers Expo during the Workshops, this will give the attendees an opportunity to watch and discuss the making/repair of a variety of instruments which will also include reed making for Uilleann Pipes.

The Workshops will be held at Scoil na Mainistreach, Celbridge and the Trad Concert will follow in the Glenroyal Hotel. Maynooth at 8pm, featuring the Tutors and visitors.

We look forward to meeting old friends and welcoming new ones to Ceardlann 2018.
